Homes for Good Announces the passing our of beloved Board Chair, Char Reavis Posted On: Tuesday, 12 September 2023 03:30 PM

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Board Chair, Char Reavis.

Char served on the Homes for Good Board and our Resident Advisory Board for over 12 years and was also on numerous national, state, and local boards and committees.

Char was a passionate social justice advocate who worked tirelessly to realize her vision that access to housing and health care should be basic human rights available to everyone.

All of the accomplishments that we have made as an organization were possible because they were shaped by Char’s wisdom and creativity.

Char believed that access to affordable housing and affordable health care is a basic human right and in her numerous leadership roles she delivered solutions to increase access housing and health care

In this moment of reflection, let us honor Char's memory by redoubling our efforts to advocate that housing and health care can be secured by every person in our community. We have lost a remarkable leader, but her spirit will guide us forward in our pursuit of a fairer and more equitable society.

Emergency Housing Voucher Wait List Opening Soon Posted On: Saturday, 12 February 2022 05:00 AM

Lane County and Homes for Good will be accepting pre-applications for referrals to the Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) Wait List starting Tuesday July 13th, 2021 at 9:00am PT.

EHV is a new program created through the American Rescue Plan Act. EHVs are tenant based vouchers that can be used in a variety of housing in the community. An EHV voucher is very much like a Section 8 Housing Choice voucher (HCV) in that the subsidy stays with the tenant, tenant pays a portion of the rent and Homes for Good pays a portion of the rent and the landlord will need to approve the tenant. EHVs follow the same procedures for tenancy as the regular Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. Participants are responsible for finding a suitable unit that: (1) Has a gross rent amount that falls within the determined rent limits and (2) Can pass a Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspection.

Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHVs) are specifically designed for households who are:

  • Homeless;
  • At Risk of Homelessness;
  • Fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking or human trafficking;
  • Recently homeless and for whom providing rental assistance will prevent the family’s homelessness or having high risk of housing instability.
